Happy Current Rainy Season, all!
Brother Bernard has not been exactly dormant throughout the year-plus of silence from the Tales of Britain blog, though he has been known to hibernate for a generation or three. It’s true that the arrival of Nephew Neddy has slowed the output of fresh folktales, or legendary site visits*, but big exciting potions are brewing, slowly being stirred over long years, and in the meantime – well, at least he’d never miss the Ludlow Fringe Festival every June.

But the reason for this extraordinary expostulation is to alert you to the debut of Tales of Britain on the old television-broadcasting box! When in France, of all places, last summer, I received a call from the crew at Susan Calman’s Great British Cities on Channel 5, asking if I could tell the Glaswegian globetrotter the story of BLADUD, the founder of Bath! And so, some day last autumn, that is what I did, in the leafy shadows of Bath’s North Parade Gardens.

The recording went like an absolute breeze, so it will be an eye-opener to watch it go out on Friday week, and see how I scraped through the edit. Who knows, maybe a wise publisher may be out there watching, ready to put the Tales of Britain: Deluxe Edition on an official footing at last? An old secular monk can dream.
Please do get in touch if you’re interested in a storytelling visit from Brother Bernard, or any other Tales of Britain business, as there are exciting things still to burst forth from this book… springing up all over!
